CSNS Convention Next Week






Hi Folks,

            Well here we are at the preview for the CSNS Convention in Schaumburg, IL at the Rennaissance Hotel and Convention Center.  The activities will start next Wednesday for me, going to the PNG Dealer Day, then at 4 pm, Dealer Set-Up.  Then on Thursday and Friday it will be time for everyone to come in and see coins.  The show does go on Saturday but my experience is that the folks that show up on Saturday are not there to buy the types of coins I offer.  Hence, if I am there on Saturday it will be to drop of coins for grading and/or auction in the morning before my flight.  The good news is it does not look like abnormally long wait times to get through TSA since that was resolved, so I probably only need to get to O’Hare a couple hours prior to take off.

            On Dealer Day, including during the PNG event, I will focus the search to Pre-Civil War coins of the types I sell – Early Copper, Seated and Bust silver, and branch mint gold.  I will however pick up any cool coin that isn’t for uber crazy money. Newps will be added to my table.  Speaking of which, my table number is 609:



It is a great location, just the next row over from the Entrance.  I share the center partition at the back of the booth with Harry Laibstain and HLRC who occupy 708 and 709.  Around this central area will be a lot of prominent dealers who specialize in early US coins. 

 

I will be bringing around 100 coins for the table.  These will include everything now listed on the Desert Moon website, but will also include some really cool coins that have not been listed yet.  These include:

1.     3 extremely eye appealing Capped Bust Dimes, all in higher MS grades, all CAC.  One has a CAC Gold Sticker.  Another is from the Eugene Gardner Collection that was auctioned by Heritage in 2014.  The 3rd one, like the other 2, is colorful, with tones of aqua, rose, olive, and the list just keeps going.  All 3 have the flash of lustrous coins that were not messed with in near-gem or gem MS.


2.     A colorfully toned Draped Bust Dollar of an R4 die marriage, CACed.  These rarely come with anything but shades of grey so this is an opportunity to add some color.


3.     7 Liberty Seated Dollars from the 1840s.  All are CAC, 2 are in Old Green Holders, and are from a collector that put together this matched and fully original and stunning set in XF45-AU55.  These 7 are not likely to be together ever again unless someone comes to the table and buys them together, but oh what a lovely set they are.


4.     2 Classic Head Half Eagles in AU that come from the original Seattle Concierge Sell of a near complete die marriage set that Doug Winter offered in 2024.  Both are gorgeous and now in CACG holders.


5.     A Pre-Civil War O-Mint Quarter Eagle and an O-Mint Half Eagle not yet listed on Desert Moon, and rarer dates to boot.  Both are CACed and fully original.  These bolster the group already listed on the website.


6.     A fully red, key date 1909-S VDB Lincoln Cent in CAC near-gem condition in an Old Green Holder.  Whew………….. 


7.     A few newps of various issues that are being delivered to me at the show, and anything else I can buy that meets Desert Moon quality while there.
