1877-CC Double Eagle, CACG XF45
Here is a lovely 1877-CC Dougle Eagle in CACG XF45. CC Double Eagles are a true representation of the Wild West during the Gold mining era of the 2nd half of the 19th Century. This example in XF45 saw some commerce activity. Remarkably it did so with acquiring only a very minor amount of hits. Alot of its compatriots are really banged up because gold alloys used in these was so soft. Since then, it picked up a nice tone of Sunrise Gold on both sides.
1877 was the first year of the Type 3 design on Double Eagles that included the Motto on the reverse, and spelled out a full 'TWENTY DOLLARS'.
For comparison, the last 1877-CC PCGS/CAC Double Eagle in XF45 to trade occurred in 10/22 at Heritage and sold for $9000.
