1854-O Eagle, PCGS AU58
Here is an 1854-O Liberty Head Eagle in the Large Date variety, in PCGS AU58. We would like to do a Cool Coin Showcase on this super cool coin but are running out of time before CSNS. If it doesn’t sell here on Desert Moon or at our table at CSNS then we most certainly will after the show and include much more background information on the cool coin. In either case it is one of the highlights of the Newps we are offering in this batch.
This O-Mint Eagle with original surfaces is very rare, in properly graded AU58 it is extremely rare, and almost non-existent in MS grades. Backing this up, only 45 have been approved by CAC or put into CACG graded holders. Twelve are CACed in AU58, and one in MS - at MS62. This example is probably one of the half dozen or so finest examples of this amazing rare coin. It should be in a 58+ holder as it really has no real wear - only a touch of rub is present on the obverse and could be the result of handling or storage activities at the mint or a bank vault rather than from circulating for commerce. It is fully original with medium orange-gold toning. There are no real detractions and it is free of the heavy marks seen on most examples of this variety. Just a wow coin and truly rare.
This coin is approved by CAC.
