1836 Half, PCGS AU58, Bar Dot
ON HOLD
This Capped Bust Half from 1836 is the Lettered Edge type. It is one of the die marriages that have the Bar Dot. It is O-120.1 and considered to be R4- in Rarity. The Bar Dot is a small die spur protruding from the 6 in the date ending in a dot. It is in a PCGS AU58 holder and another one of the uber strong 58s we recently obtained from a long held collection. And again, like several of the others listed here, it has a very original skin, this one with russet-amber highlights in the toning on top of frosty devices. The tones on this bust half really remind us of Fall colors when the leaves start to turn. Nice silky cartwheel luster under the light. A PQ for the grade AU58 just like we prefer to offer. And like most of the others, there are no auction comps of CACed AU58s for comparison, indicating just how thinly traded these are.
This coin is approved by CAC.
