1833 Quarter, PCGS XF45
Here is a lovely 1833 Small Capped Bust Quarter in XF45. This is the B1 die marriage and these dies were heavily rusted as illustrated from all of the raised grungy looking metal blotches on the surfaces. This adds true distinction to this variety. It also exhibits a lovely die clash of the reverse shield under Ms. Liberties ear on the obverse. A year ago we had one of these in PCGS AU58 as well and with the exception of the slightest, and I mean slightest more wear, I could not distinguish between the 2. Hence this XF45 represents true value, with a nice gray patina that is totally original. Just a really cool coin. This is the hardest of the small CBQ's to locate with quality and original surfaces. CAC/CACG has only approved/slabbed 52 of this date with only 7 in XF45. They just don't come available in quality mid-grade too often.
This coin is approved by CAC.
