1833 Dime, PCGS MS62+
Here is an 1833 Capped Bust Dime, in PCGS MS62+. This is die marriage JR1 and considered to be R3. The eye appeal is self evident and stunning, with a vibrant toning on both sides in the classic progression from blue and violet along the rims and transitioning to amber-orange towards the center. This die state indicates that this is the second time these 2 dies were married - the reverse shows die cracks at rim-D-scroll and rim-E2-scroll verifying this. Further, this was the 4th time the reverse die had been used. It was used with this obverse die, then 2 other obverse dies in succession, then this obverse die again in the remarriage. Complex and cool.
This example was previously auctioned by Stacks Bowers on 4/3/24 where it sold for $4560. Here is the lot description:
"A beautifully toned, Choice Mint State Capped Bust dime. Bold orange-rose, deep gold, and lilac toning grace both the obverse and reverse, deeper toward the peripheral devices, fading in to a satiny, antique silver at the centers. Sharply struck up details and wonderfully clean surfaces for the assigned grade, this is a premium quality specimen for the grade, one that will see very spirited bidding competition when it crosses the block."
Well that says it all...................
This coin is approved by CAC.
