1828 Bust Half, PCGS AU53
ON HOLD
This Capped Bust Half from 1828 is the Square 2, Small 8's, Large Letters variety. It is an O-116 die marriage within that group and certified PCGS AU53. It was in a long-held and large collection of pq bust halves that we were able to cherry pick. Like many of the new bust halves we are offering, the superlatives applied are just too many to write here. The problem with a coin like this is that if one images it in the traditional way with lights against the lens but not overlapping the coin (first image above), the vibrant colors do not show up as well. The only way to capture the color essence, is to have the lights right on top of the coin but then one gets reflection from the plastic slab. Nevertheless to provide an image that shows just how amazing the tones are on this coin, the second image does just that. You get the picture, uber pq, super-duper eye appeal and colorful toning that makes it stand out above its peers. The advantage here is that this one has a touch of wear so it comes in at a lower price than the higher grade offerings here. It has problem free surfaces, and extremely nice and silky luster that is enhanced near the edges. Just crazy cool.
This coin is approved by CAC.
