1828 Bust Quarter, PCGS VF35
This Capped Bust Quarter graded PCGS VF35/CAC is the die marriage B1. Frankly, when comparing this example to those in the PCGS.com/photograde examples for VF35 through AU50, based on wear comparisons with these, we strongly feel that this quarter should be in an XF40 to 45/CACed holder. This is also borne out by direct comparison with higher graded examples in hand. For example, compare the coin we are offering here to the most recent PCGS VF35/CAC example in the PCGS Coinfacts data base, which sold for $1200 in April, 2023 at Heritage…..
As typical original, un-messed with examples of this die marriage, the fields where no toning is present, appear to be almost proof-like, with nice luster when rotating under the light. Most VF35 Capped bust quarters do not have this level of luster, supporting the case for it being undergraded. The toning is rich shades of gray, chocolate, amber and steel blue adding the gorgeous eye appeal for a totally original coin. This is thus likely to be the nicest B1 1828 quarter in existence in a VF35 holder, and, possible in XF holders as well, and without a doubt, the nicest one we have seen in this grade in 15 years of specializing in this series………....
