Here is a lovely 1805, Small 5, No Stems, C-1, Draped Bust Half Cent in AU55.  We obtained this example because it is head and shoulders above the norm for early AU copper.  Problems are nearly unavoidable such that few meet CAC's expectations as this one does.  Both sides have no major detractions and rich deep brown patina with subtle-silky-smooth luster when rotating under the light.  The reverse is a lesson in how difficult the minting of early copper was and the variable quality of planchets.  In particular note the interesting planchet lamination between E and S in STATES that makes this lovely early half cent unique.
