1806 Quarter, PCGS VF25
Here is an 1806 Draped Bust Quarter in VF25 in the B5 die marriage. The B5 die marriage is one of the tougher 1806 varieties and consider to be R4+ (76-118 extant) that carries about a 10% premium in both PCGS and CPG guides over the more common of the 9 die marriages for 1806 (6/5 B1 priced separately). It is identified by Obverse 4 with a perfect T and Star 1 far from the bust, and Reverse G where Star 12 touches the Eagles Beak, amongst other die identifiers as documented in the Book - Early Quarter Dollars of the United Stats Mint 1796-1838 (Rea et al. 2010). In either case, this die marriage is much harder to find than the R1-R3 marriages. This example has a rich, light russet and grey patina overlying its sliver surfaces with no detracting hits. Certainly a wholesome and rare VF Draped Bust Quarter.
