1806 Draped Bust Half, 6 Over Inverted 6, PCGS XF40
This 1806 Draped Bust Half is the 6 Over Inverted 6 variety, O-112. It is considered to be R4 and resides in a PCGS XF40 holder. In the Tompkins book on Draped Bust Halves, this is T-12. It shares the obverse with T-11 (O-111) which is more common than T-12.
CAC has stickered 2 in XF40 for O-112, 4 total, none higher. CAC has stickered a combined total for the 6 Over Inverted 6 variety (O-111 and O-112) of 9 in XF40, 5 in XF45, and 2 in AU58, no others in between or higher than AU58. Some of these might be O-112 as well. The only recent CACed result for O-112 is an AU58 that went for $60,000 (current CPG Retail is $38,000), at Stacks-Bowers in August of 2025. According to Tompkins, there are currently no known uncirculated examples of this die marriage. These just don't get out for dinner too often and that is because there really aren't many around.
One can observe the double punched inverted 6's with the correctly placed 6 over it in our images. It has a cool die crack bisecting Ms. Liberty, and gorgeous surfaces with classic aqua and amber tone around the edges on each side.
This coin is approved by CAC.
