Here is a wholesome 1802 Draped Bust Large Cent in PCGS VF20.   It is the No Stems variety, and die marriage S-231, the other No Stems DM is S-241.  The faint die crack through RT in LIBERTY trending down in front of the nose pinpoints the S-231.  The No Stems is not attributed on the slab.   Surprisingly (or not), there are literally no comps in low VF grades for these in recent years, it seems that most of the low VF 1802 No Stems large cents coming through the auction houses are in Details holders, and certainly none have met the strict expectations of CAC.  Except this one.  This is consistent with the CAC populations where the No Stems has none in VF20, 1 in VF25, and 1 in VF30.  The Normal Reverse Variety does have a total of 7 CACed in these grades, and maybe some of these are No Stems, as this one is, and unattributed.
 
One can clearly see why this lovely piece of copper is worthy of CAC recognition.  Deep chocolate brown, no major detracting hits on either side, and just good old fashioned honest wear from being in circulation.  This one was sold by DLRC for $600 back in 2018.

  • RETURN POLICY

    For orders from this website, we accept returns for 7 days after receipt of coin by buyer.  Buyer must notify us at desertmoonnm@yahoo.com of return within that 7-day time frame.  Coin must be returned in its original plastic slab.   Buyer pays for return shipping.  Refund will be issued upon receipt of coin in the same condition (including the slab) as it was sent to the buyer. 

  • SALES TAX

    All orders delivered to New Mexico addresses will pay NM sales tax.
