Here is a stunning 1800 Draped Bust Half Dime in PCGS VF35.  It is the LM-1 die marriage, considered to be R3.  Only 5 have met the expectations for originality and quality by CAC in VF35,  and 1 in XF40 for both the LM-1 and LM-2 die marriages of 1800.  It exhibits steel-gray-blue and russet toning on largely detraction-free surfaces.  The surfaces are amazing to observe when rotating under the light - er ah, is that silky luster peeking through on a 226 year old VF half dime? Well each will have to decide what to call the gorgeous display of surface 'sparkle' when performing that operation but the only words we can think of is 'ooh', 'aah', 'wow', 'mmmmm'.  Suffice to say we would be thrilled to be able to offer examples like this on a weekly, monthly, or even yearly basis.  But sadly, this is the only one in the past year.  Maybe we can find another DBHD of this quality next year?  Let's hope, alas...........
