FUN Show Recap

 


Hi Folks,

            By now you have heard just how vibrant the FUN Show was.  The crowds were enormous, especially on Thursday and Friday.  Everyone was buying and selling, dealers and collectors alike.  Lucky for me I had a volunteer – Catbert from the PCGS Boards, helping me for most of the time. 

            I was there on Tuesday for the dealer wholesale event, where they had a room for dealer-to-dealer trading.  For the kinds of coins we are interested in, we were able to obtain some nice examples.  From Wednesday through Saturday, there was only an occasional break.  I found some great coins to buy, and sold just over a third of my inventory.  The buying replenished about 80% of what I sold.  Newps came from dealer tables, vest-pocket dealers, and collectors walking up to my table to sell.  Nothing to complain about for sure.

Since coming back, I have spent the last week doing imaging of all of the ~50 newps I have, researching each example, and pricing.  It will take me at least another week to get through all of this.  I will post them in batches, and I will try my best to post a weekly Cool Coin Showcase to highlight some special examples we obtained.

 

In terms of the numismatic market, it remains nuclear hot.  Prices just keep going up.  I watched the latest Heritage auction, and every single no problem CACed/CACG coin I was watching went for above stated retail prices.  As long as collector interest is sustained for cool coins, I don’t see this changing in the near term.  If we have an economy downturn, then we also might see a reversal in coins too.  We will just have to see as there is no way to predict these things.

So now you can click on the Archives tab under More and see many of the coins we have been selling.  Once in, you can click on a coin and an enlarged image will come up of the coin.  Pretty cool app and it displays our accurate images.  Nothing wrong with that as we are proud of our product and please enjoy it.
